The RLC Foundation

The RLC engaging with industry and academia to share best practice

RLC Foundation logo

The purpose of the Royal Logistic Corps Foundation is to promote professional excellence within the Corps, so that our soldiers and officers can be the best military logisticians possible.

The RLC Foundation team is based at HQ 101 Log Bde, Wellington House, St Omer Barracks, Aldershot. GU11 2BG.

We plan and coordinate all Foundation activity and work as part of the Regimental Headquarters of the RLC.

Our Method

Engage with professional organisations and academia to coordinate and expand existing Accreditation Certification and Educational Courses for the benefit of RLC soldiers and officers across all RLC Trades.

  • Provide a focus for The RLC’s professional excellence and engagement with external logistics organisations from industry, academia, professional bodies and the professional media and facilitate engagement with them.
  • Promote exchanges of ideas, experiences and concepts between RLC soldiers and officers and the appropriate civilian/commercial organisations.
  • Promote engagement of RLC soldiers and officers in the Foundation’s activities and especially their interaction with industry and showcase the capabilities and qualities of RLC soldiers and officers to the civilian logistics community.
  • Coordinate ‘thought leadership’ in military logistics by ensuring the Corps remains abreast of leading edge commercial logistic practices.

The RLC Aquatics open water swimming team made history! Led by WO1 Shawn Bailey MBE, the incredible team completed a two-way swim across the English Channel, from England to France and back again, with a total swim time of 22 hours and 16 minutes. This phenomenal achievement marks them as the first ever mixed military relay team to conquer this feat, and the first in RLC history to do so. Since 1875, only 48 other teams have achieved this, and they are the only military team this century to join them.Through relentless training, unshakable determination, and exceptional skill, they also raised £7885 for military charities during our journey. Huge congrats to the team: WO1 Shawn Bailey MBE, Maj Clive Allford, Maj John Howell, Maj Paul Vidler, Capt Lucy Powell, Cpl Kelly May and Cpl Emma Meechan #WeAreTheRLC #youbelonghere #wesustain ...
