The Master General of Logistics attended the Joint Services Dinner at the Guildhall on 22 April 15. HRH The Princess Royal was also present and signed a deed of covenant between the Carmen Company and the Armed Forces and also presented the Carmen’s annual prizes. The 400 guests were also treated to a Beating Retreat performed by the Band of the Royal Logistic Corps. After the meal HRH The Princess Royal presented the Company’s Military Awards to the Sword of Honour winner and Soldier of the Year from the Royal Logistic Corps.
THE CARMEN’S SWORD OF HONOUR is presented annually to the young Royal Logistic Corps officer selected, by the RLC, as the most outstanding of the preceding year.
Founded by the Worshipful Company of Carmen in 1979. It comprises a ceremonial sword with its scabbard. The winner for 2015 was Lt Rachael Allen RLC from DST Leconfield.
THE CARMEN’S ROYAL LOGISTIC CORPS CUP is an annual award and honours the ‘Carmen’s Soldier of the Year’, an RLC soldier from any trade background within the Corps, on his or her first tour with an RLC unit and who has excelled. The winner for 2015 was Pte Emma Drew of 6 Regt RLC.
