The RLC’s Great Christmas Bake Off

RLC soldiers have showcased their festive cake-making skills in their very own ‘Great Christmas Bake Off.’

The inaugural Christmas cake competition held at Tidworth Garrison in Wiltshire and organised by WO2 Andrew Saupe, saw chefs competing from across the British Army, reported the Forces Network.

It was judged by a panel of military and civilian judges headed up by professional Pastry Chef and BBC Bake Off judge Claire Clark MBE.

In the end there were only ten points between the winners, which were Lance Corporal Glen Smith 34 Field Hospital for his decorated cake, Cpl Chris Glover 30 Signals Regiment for his loaf cake and Sergeant Ram Limbu 30 Signals Regiment for the gingerbread centrepiece.

The overall highest scoring entry came from the Gingerbread category and was awarded to Santa’s Workshop produced by Sgt Matthew Hunter from 19 Regiment Royal Artillery.
