RLC riders help cycle race teams to victory

Cycle teams in the opening round of the OVO Energy Tour Series in Redditch were helped to victory by the strength of their RLC team members.

In the opening women’s race, a strong placement of 12th by LCpl Charmaine Porter of 29 Regiment helped the team Brother UK – Tifosi p/b OnForm squad into the first OVO Energy Green Jerseys as initial Series leaders.

The event also saw featured town centre street racing where the Army won with the help of their RLC talent, including LCpl Jack Webb from 9 Regiment.

Connor Swift took individual honours with an impressive solo victory, which along with a strong performance by team-mate Tom Moses, was enough to help Madison Genesis into the lead of the men’s OVO Energy Tour Series following Round One.

Team Tifosi will next be in action in Salisbury on 23 May, then Brooklands on 25 May. See the OVO tour series website for more.
