RLC RECOGNISED AT FESTIVAL OF LEARNING AWARDS

The Colonel RLC and two soldiers from 27 Regiment RLC have received certificates of recognition from the Festival of Learning.

Colonel John West ADC was nominated in the ‘Employer’ category, representing the Royal Logistic Corps, which was recognised for its ability to use learning to develop and utilise the skills of its workforce in order to improve productivity, raise morale and enhance performance.

Sergeant Michelle Vansittart of 27 Regiment RLC, was nominated by her line manager, Captain Liam Harkin, for her support and contributions to the Pearson TQ Apprenticeship Programme which is designed to deliver guidance and training to young soldiers at the very start of their careers.

“Sgt Michelle Vansittart has been a stalwart campaigner and standout supporter of the Apprenticeship Programme. She is a credit to the Regiment and is the epitome of professionalism in supporting soldiers and Pearson TQ,” said Captain Harkin.

Private Lovepreet Singh, nominated for the ‘Individual Learner’ category by his Functional Skills Tutor, has been recognised for his dedication to his apprenticeship and the positive impact he has had on other students.

Regimental Career Management Officer (RCMO) Captain Harkin explained, “His selfless commitment and respect for others got him nominated for the Festival of Learning Award by his tutors, who speak very highly of him and how his positive contribution has impacted on other students.”

The Festival of Learning aims to celebrate the benefits of lifelong learning and to engage, encourage and inspire adults and those who don’t already take part in learning. The Festival of Learning Awards play a key role in showcasing the wide-ranging impact learning has on individuals, families, communities and employers.

This year, the awards were split into four categories; Individual learner, Tutor, Employer and Project, and winners were selected for a range of awards including: Outstanding Individual Learner award, New Directions award (sponsored by Skills and Education Group) and the Employer award.
