Rewarding careers in construction logistics available to veterans and Service leavers

BuildForce, a non-profit construction industry initiative which aims to create formal pathways between the military community and the construction industry, is looking for ex-military logisticians to fulfil logistics manager and assistant roles on the HS2 project.

The organisation, which began operating in 2011, aims to establish direct links with employers and provide visibility on careers with the training to access them, ensuring that Service leavers and veterans are supported and valued as they transition into the world of industry.

BuildForce offers a compliment of services focused on employment, education and mental health and as well as HS2, it works with over 150 organisations across the sector nationally with logistics being a core area which it supports. Its programme offers a support service including: career advice, mentoring, industry connections, work placements, online learning modules, virtual career chats, industry insight days and mental health and wellbeing support.

Programme Director Caroline Logan says: “We offer a wraparound support service for veterans and service leavers and have a wealth of industry connections. Knowledge of construction is not a pre-requisite. One our HS2 recruits – logistics manager and former RLC Officer, Paul Bedford – had no construction experience at all, but his logistics career and transferable skills were well received.”

The next BuildForce ‘Logistics Virtual Career Chat’ is scheduled for 15th April 2021 when the organisation will be joined by Alliance Partners Jacobs and Wilson James and the event will include presentations from two of its veteran employers about their transition and ‘a day in the life of’ in Logistics. The session will also end with a Q&A panel hosted by CEO, Angela Forbes. For more information, click here.
