More Jiu-Jitsu gold for Army team

The Army Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) team has reaped the rewards of a dedicated training camp winning eight gold medals in its most successful year to date.

Cpl Leon Hinds has once again proved to be a shining star for the team, continuing his run of gold medals in the Master 2, Super-heavyweight category, most recently at the IBJJF European Championships (Brazilian Jiu-jitsu) in Portugal.

He is the only athlete to win gold for the Army in a top-level IBJJF tournament – a feat he has now achieved three times in his first year as a purple belt.

Twelve athletes represented the Army team in Portugal including Cpl Leon Hinds and Capt Jack Godwin (both RLC).

The Army BJJ team continues to grow and hosts monthly training sessions in Aldershot (open to all),
whilst smaller clubs within units continue to pop up.
