Memorial garden award

The 6 Regiment Memorial Garden ‘A Homecoming Prayer’ recently won a Gold Award at Harrogate’s Spring Flower Show.

It’s now been moved to form part of a larger memorial space at the Regiment’s new base at Dishforth Airfield in North Yorkshire.

The Japanese-themed garden, which is currently being bedded-in, was designed by Northumbrian Landscaping owner Peter Cunliffe and sponsored by BALI.

BALI affiliate members supported the memorial garden by providing hard and soft landscaping materials.

BALI was also joined by main sponsor Hesco and worked with Help for Heroes to support the garden from conception through to build.

The garden was commissioned following the Regt’s return from being stationed in Germany.

Padre J Harding is still keen for volunteers and donors to get involved in the project.

At present 6 Regt’s green fingered spouses are helping to create portable gardens to go on display at RHS Garden Harlow Carr as part of the 6 Regiment RLC Memorial Garden Project.

The gardens will be shown at RHS Harlow Carr (in Harrogate) over 23-25 Jun.
