On the anniversary of the formation of The Royal Logistic Corps, deployed soldiers and officers in the Falkland Islands celebrated in style with a special all ranks dinner night.
There are over 100 RLC soldiers currently serving in the Falklands, something which may surprise many. Working in such a joint environment alongside the other services made marking the occasion all the more important.
The RLC is held in high regard across the camp, doing an excellent job in support of the other services.
The Falklands provides a unique logistical challenge, being around 8000 miles from the UK with no direct commercial flights running between the two. With everything being moved by military airbridge or by ship, even everyday items can become valuable commodities.
Over the past year 10,564,495 tonnes of freight were moved by ship and 605,115 kg by air, 14,244,064 litres of fuel were issued and even 41,320 toilet rolls.
With ranks ranging from Pte all the way through to Lt Col, the dinner night was a great success and an opportunity to get all of The RLC from across camp together. Happy birthday to The RLC from everyone in the Falklands!
