DEFENCE SCHOOL OF TRANSPORT HOSTS FIRST RLC MILITARY SKILLS COMPETITION

This year, the RLC Military Skills Competition was held for the first time at the Defence School of Transport, Leconfield, hosted by 25 Regiment RLC. The intense day saw over 40 teams and 250 regular and reserve personnel from across the Corps compete against each other in a test of their fitness and military skills.

The event began with a weigh-in and kit check. One by one, teams were then given ten minutes to complete five stands that set out to test their military skills and knowledge including CBRN, vehicle recognition, Comms and BCD.

The teams were then pushed to their limits as they completed a 10km timed loaded march before concluding the event using the Dismounted Close Combat Trainer (DCCT).

Despite the treacherous weather, all teams worked tirelessly to complete the course, highlighting the high standards and dedication of the soldiers and officers of The RLC.

Lt Col Rob Amor RLC, CO 25 Regiment RLC commented:

“It’s been brilliant hosting the Military Skills Competition up here at DST. Military skills are critical. No matter what trade or role, we are all soldiers first so this is a really important event. 25 Regiment is now settled after its move up north and is pleased to have hosted what has been a really great event.”
