Calling all RLC Veterans, RE:ACT needs you!

RE:ACT, formerly known as Team Rubicon UK, is a humanitarian charity that provides direct action in emergencies and crisis, serving the most vulnerable people in need by deploying highly trained RE:ACT Response Teams.

The majority of its volunteer base are ex-military or veterans from the blue light community whose skills and experience of complex, dynamic environments on operations, make them the perfect humanitarian responder.

The crisis in need of your support this time is on home soil. As the UK went into lockdown in March, RE:ACT Responders mobilised to work in tandem with government authorities, the voluntary sector and the British Army, helping to protect lives and bolster under-pressure frontline services. During this time, the charity deployed on a wide-range of tasks from running temporary mortuaries to Personal Protection Equipment distribution. One key theme that was there throughout… Logistics.

Fortunately, the charity already has a talented team who have been placed into local authorities and national food charities to advise on their supply chain issues, however more help is always needed. RE:ACT is now working with Standing Joint Command and the Department of Health and Social Care to help provide volunteers for city testing programmes – a need that is only going to increase in the coming weeks.

Veterans who are interested can sign up on the RE:ACT website by following this link: https://www.re-act.org.uk/ Once registered, details of tasks within a 60-mile radius will be sent to you where you can then volunteer to help. As RE:ACT is a charity, the roles are voluntary, but if the local authority or commercial entity cover expenses, then this will be passed on to individuals where possible.

A further opportunity is also available working with the trading subsidiary RE:SILIENT that has been set up to try to fund the charity.

RE:SILIENT is providing UK businesses with a commercial testing programme to ensure a safely-managed environment for staff and customers. To help with this, RE:SILIENT is looking for on-site COVID-19 testers in Plymouth to start work in the next two weeks, for a period of up to two months. This is a paid position at £150 per day and full training will be provided.

If you or anyone you know is interested in applying for this role, please follow this link to the RE:SILIENT website: https://re-silient.co.uk/job/swabber-general-duties/
