Building community support with football

Members of the British Army Training Unit Kenya (CSS BATUK) kicked off their community engagement work in 2020 with a football match against the locals.

The friendly fixture against Pepe FC (a local team based in Nanyuki), ended with a 2-0 win to BATUK. But away from who won, the event brought smiles and cheers all round, especially when SSgt Butlin and Sgt Valentine presented football strips to local football clubs.

Events such as these not only open doors for members of the local community, but are also key to establishing healthy working relations between BATUK troops and the locals.

Currently, BATUK RFC has six RLC personnel either playing or holding key admin positions, highlighting another example of the importance and involvement of RLC Sp across BATUK.
