British Army Training Unit Kenya (BATUK) has tested its mettle in a 12km charity mountain run called Challenging the Heights.
Nine RLC personnel joined the locals in Meru County to take part in the inaugural race which will now likely become an annual event on The RLC calendar.
Challenging the Heights was held to raise funds to support the fight against cancer, promote tourism and environmental conservation.
With the start point of the race at 2811m above sea level and the highest point being 3128m, it was a taxing event even for the most accomplished runner.
The field included some high profile Kenyan runners using the run as a training event, as well as some local Kenyans who chose to run in Chino’s, jackets and Brogue shoes.
Congratulations to the nine RLC runners who took part: Capt Kristian Kormi, WO2 Akuila Dresa, SSgt Kemar Hudson, SSgt Des Plummer, Sgt Mani Dlamini, Sgt Brad L’Anson, Cpl Top Gurung, LCpl Suraj Rai and LCpl Bir Pun.
