Four members of 9 Regt RLC Golf team entered the autumn Golf Championships on Wed 16 Sept, held at Tidworth Golf Club.
Due to an extremely busy year this was only the second time this season that 9 Regt have been able to enter a team in an RLC Golf competition. Prior to the start of the competition severe weather warnings for heavy rain were issued; this did not bode well for the day’s events! Fortunately, in the morning round the weather stayed reasonably pleasant which enabled the first 18 holes to be completed with some excellent golf being played.
Once play reconvened after a light lunch the weather took a dramatic turn for the worse and the rain and wind were relentless. This made the conditions near on impossible and unfortunately play was halted after 14 holes due to the course being completely covered in surface water. To most of the players this was a blessing in disguise as everyone was soaked to the skin! However, regardless of the weather, an excellent day’s golf was had by everyone which resulted in SSgt Parker (9 Regt RLC) finishing 3rd overall in the individual standings and 9 Regt RLC being crowned RLC handicap team champions.
