RLC AND QOGLR CHEFS RECEIVE AWARDS FOLLOWING Ex LOYAL LEDA

Ex LOYAL LEDA, an HQ Allied Rapid Reaction Corps’ CREVAL exercise, has recently drawn to a close after HQ ARRC successfully achieved certification as NATO’s warfighting HQ. Recognised for their exceptional contributions to this effort, a number of Royal Logistic Corps and Queen’s Own Gurkha Logistic Regiment Chefs have been selected for COSARRC (Major General John Mead OBE) and 1 Signal Brigade Commander’s (Brigadier John Collyer) Coins.

1 (UK) Signal Brigade is responsible for providing Real Life Support to HQ ARRC; support clearly demonstrated whilst deployed on Ex LOYAL LEDA. Many logisticians from across the Brigade and the wider Field Army, were deployed for over three months in roles including: driving, catering, op hygiene and managing the supply chain. The RLC and QOGLR Chefs (including a number of reserves) deployed to both South Cerney and RAF Fairford in early September in order to sustain the exercise build and then, in November, the Primary Training Audience from HQ ARRC.

This is a regular Brigade commitment, however delivering catering support against the backdrop of COVID-19 was a new and complex challenge. The teams of chefs instigated a number of Force Health Protection measures, which were both novel and necessary to safely feed over 1,200 exercising troops. The agile thinking, commitment to excellence and long hours were recognised by all including the senior officers on the deployment and as such, a number of the Chefs were selected to receive awards in recognition of their efforts in delivering a first-class service amidst the impact of COVID-19 and an ever-changing exercise requirement.

Recipients of the COSARRC’s Coin:

Sergeant Chris Evans, 3 Medical Regiment

Private Pouraj Gurung, 30 Signal Regiment

Private Umit Rai, 22 Signal Regiment

Recipients of the 1 Signal Brigade Commander’s Coin:

Staff Sergeant Carl Hart, 22 Signal Regiment

Corporal Manoj Gurung, 30 Signal Regiment

RHQ The RLC congratulates all of the soldiers who received awards for their outstanding contributions.
