Logistic Support Squadron Visit

The visit by the Corps Colonel and Corps Adjutant to Logistic Support Squadron, Commando Logistic Regiment Royal Marines last week. The visit was the first by HQ RLC in over ten years bringing the Squadron back into the RLC fold and giving the soldiers the opportunity to demonstrate the current capabilities of this unique squadron consistently delivering ‘Logistic Effect’ at the forefront of defences main effort. With the majority of the Squadron held at R2 for 7 days a week, 365 days a year it was made clear during the visit they are ‘Punching Well Above Their Weight’.

The visit was split between the 4 Troops Equipment Support, Technical, General Support and Petroleum and was designed to showcase the capabilities and commitments of each department. The Corps Colonel was delivered interesting and informative briefings by RLC Logistic Supply Specialists & Petroleum Operators on how they are operating in the Maritime environment alongside Naval & Marine Ranks, being given exciting opportunities and the chance to routinely put into practice their trade skills.

Significant deployments in the previous 12 months have been to Norway, California, Albania, Jordan, Cyprus and the Falkland Islands to name but a few with ‘Run a Shore’ taking place in various ports en route. The diverse and varied lifestyle of a soldier serving within 3 Commando Brigade was demonstrated to the full with potential All Arms Commando Course candidates conducting ‘Commando PT’ with the opportunity given to the Corps Adjutant to get to grips with the 30ft rope and hone in on Regain Techniques.
