The Logistics and Distribution Award

17 Port and Maritime Regiment, The Royal Logistic Corps won ‘The Logistics and Distribution Award’ at the European Logistics and Supply Chain’s 20th Anniversary Supply Chain Excellence Awards.

This award was for its work as the Vanguard Enabling Group Headquarters (VE Gp HQ), enabling, sustaining and redeploying over 1400 troops from 12 major units on Ex SHAMAL STORM 16 in Jordan from Jan to Apr 16.

This included the construction of three camps from scratch out in the desert, working closely with contractors and Force Support Engineers.

Several hundred vehicles and pieces of equipment were deployed via sea and air before being moved by convoy to their eventual locations. Whilst 17 Port and Maritime Regt was the architect of the exercise, it was ably supported by multiple agencies, notably 9 Regt, 27 Regt, 29 Regt, 2 Operational Support Group and many more.

In addition to 17 Port and Maritime Regiment, the shortlist for the Logistics and Distribution category included:

  • Pladis (United Biscuits)
  • Etisalat Misr
  • FPS
  • City Sprint

Eight members of the Regt (Sergeant-Lieutenant Colonel) were joined by the former CO and Operations Major of 17 Port and Maritime Regt to collect the award. A fabulous evening was had by all at the Hilton Hotel, Park Lane, London and the Regt is truly delighted to have won such a prestigious industry award.

The Regt has been fully supported by the RLC Foundation during this awards process and would like to thank them and congratulate all the other award winners.

17 Port and Maritime Regt is very proud as a Regt to have had its efforts recognised by the European Logistic and Supply Chain Industry in this way.
