151 Regiment is gearing up for its unique task of keeping the Lord Mayor’s Show running smoothly behind the scenes on 9 Nov 19.
As well as supplying soldiers to take part in the procession itself, every year the Regt supplies over 40 Movement Controllers to work behind the scenes of the procession controlling the stacking, movement and control of floats from London Wall to the Embankment.
This year The RLC floats in the procession will once again represent vehicles used by the Corps past and present.
In the lead will be the Modified Light Equipment Trailer (MLET), which is powered by the Oshkosh prime mover, the most powerful tank transporter in production. It consists of an Oshkosh 1070F 8 x 8 tractor truck and a King Trailer GTS 100 seven-axle semi-trailer.
Loaded onto the MLET will be the MAN SV vehicle, the current Army’s logistic ‘workhorse’ providing great mobility to operations.
Bringing up the rear will be the Bedford OY Series, which was built for the British Armed Forces in 1939 and designed for a 3 Ton Payload. The one in the procession is actually an OYC underneath, but today displays OYD general service capability.
151 Regt is London’s only Transport Regiment and is part of 101 Logistic Brigade (the Iron Vipers) providing logistical support to 3 UK Division, (The Iron Division) as part of the UK’s High Readiness Reaction Force.
