151 Regt Attend The Opening Of A New Logistics Skill Centre

RESERVISTS FROM THE ROYAL LOGISTIC CORPS ATTEND THE OPENING OF WEST THAMES COLLEGE NEW LOGISTIC SKILL CENTRE

Officers and Soldiers from 151 Regiment The Royal Logistic Corps, joined the Institute of Couriers in attending the official opening of West Thames College’s new Skills and Logistics Centre at Boundaries Road, Feltham. West Thames College has successfully developed a new £3 million purpose-built logistics centre, which is supported by the London Enterprise Panel.

The logistics centre will act as a hub for students, workers and employers in the growing logistics industry. West Thames College will introduce new courses and training such as logistics operations, warehouse management and goods vehicle driving. These courses are designed to equip local residents with the skills they need to meet the rising demand for logistics expertise in West London.

The centre was officially opened by Shadow Treasury Minister Seema Malhotra who cut the ribbon alongside college principle Tracy Aust and Carl Lomas from the Institute of Couriers. Also attending were heads of Industry including TFL boss Mike Brown and Heathrow boss John Holland Kaye. Tracy Aust explains “We are very excited about the opening of the new Logistics Centre.  It demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that our courses reflect the changing needs of employers and provide the right training for young people to secure jobs in our area.”

151 Regiment RLC have built a strong relationship with the Institute of Couriers and West Thames College as part of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant. Captain Derek Gregory MBE, Regimental Operational Support Officer for the Regiment said “As London’s only Logistic Regiment we are in a good position to offer the students additional opportunities to support their learning.   The Regiment has a Transport Squadron based at Hayes Bridge where reservists gain military and transferable trade skills suitable for employment in the Logistic Sector”.  The Regiment actively engages with the Logistic sector to develop employment pathways between employers and reservists.
